ART TEACHER
ABOUT ME

Hello and thank you for viewing my teaching portfolio. It is my hope that it will demonstrate the wide range of skills and techniques that I am able to teach my students.
I have always loved being creative from a very young age. I was born in Leicestershire, UK and was fortunate to have been taught by some amazing teachers who made a huge difference to my life and future through their passion for their subject and their caring nature. They inspired me to be a teacher and to express my enthusiasm for Art. My philosophy of education is based on teaching the ‘whole person’ and supporting emotional and social development as well as academic achievement.
I graduated in 1998 from Manchester Metropolitan University with a First Class honours degree in Crafts. My degree course was an excellent education in contemporary crafts. My main focus was mixed media and Textiles. I then went on to study for my PGCE Art & Design at De Montfort University in Leicester and discovered my passion for teaching.
I have over 20 years work experience in a variety of different schools in the UK and Internationally. I have extensive subject knowledge as a result of my desire to learn new skills and to develop as an educator. When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring my own creative practice. Thank you for visiting and I hope you will enjoy viewing my students' art work .
